Recognizing Individuals Forced Into Hardship on World Refugee Day 2019

Tick, tock. Tick, tock.

A minute shaves off the clock.

And in that 60 seconds, 20 people around the world abandon everything to escape war, persecution or terror, a statistic from the United Nations.

These refugees experience forced hardships because of this need to escape, and World Refugee Day on June 20 is meant to educate around the cause and their needs.

We support awareness of World Refugee Day as refugees are one of the four groups of people most in need whom we serve.

At Jake’s Diapers, we recognize refugees as individuals forced to leave homes due to conflict, natural disasters, human rights violations or persecution. This includes those refugees, asylum seekers and internally displaced persons now living in poverty without access to basic necessities.

“An unprecedented 68.5 million people around the world have been forced from home,” according to the UN Refugee Agency’s website. “Among them are nearly 25.4 million refugees, over half of whom are under the age of 18.”

We know when families are fleeing, diapers and other basic hygiene needs are left behind. With statistics showing just how many children are impacted, there are a lot of lives we need to work to help.

For World Refugee Day 2019, consider a donation to Jake’s Diapers to help a family remove the financial burden of hygiene needs as they settle into a new life somewhere else, starting from scratch.

About Our Global Efforts: Through a trusted network of community-based partners Jake’s Diapers provides predominantly reusable options to solving hygiene needs worldwide. We have a growing list of diaper drops in countries outside the United States.
